Does the EUROFIGHTER actually have two seats or just one? Both answers are correct, but somehow only half. Conceptually, the machine is a pure single-seater, regardless of the nation and under which name, the slim singles are the method of choice. In the Air Force, this variant is called “GS” (German Single). Deviating from this, there are also a handful of "AS" (Austrian Single) - these aircraft were originally produced for the Austrian Armed Forces, but were ultimately replaced by already built "GS" variants.
But why the massive two-seater? The "Typhoons" with the powerful curves are called "GT" (German Trainer) and, according to their name, are operational training aircraft. The rear cockpit is a so-called repeater and has identical displays and functions as the front one. Apart from a lower fuel capacity, these variants are also fully operational. But why do you need a trainer anyway? Flights with a flight instructor must be carried out regularly for inspections, further training and the regaining of authorizations - we use the double-seater for this. And yes, in rare cases there are also flights.
In the future, there are even designs for two-seat operational variants, but that is a thing of the future.
